Local Community Engagement

Singing in your community

We like to get out and about and sing in local communities. If you have a venue with an organ and room for 70 singers, we’d love to visit! Get in touch with us.

We recently performed our choral classics programme at St Michael and All Angels’ Church in Helensburgh. This concert was to help mark the 150th anniversary of the church and to welcome their new rector. We had a relaxing time before rehearsals walking along the promenade and eating ice-cream while basking in the autumn sunshine. We’re very grateful for the very generous welcome from the members of St Michael’s – the afternoon tea was scrumptious!

The programme included short choruses from well-known oratorios – Handel’s Coronation Anthem Zadok the Priest; the Easter Hymn from Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana; and Vivaldi’s Gloria. We also sang more recent compositions such as Sleep by Eric Whitacre, The Ground by Ola Gjello and O Magnum Mysterium by Morten Lauridsen.

Singing for Syrians

During Christmas 2017, we were proud to perform a Christmas carol concert in Glasgow’s Merchant Square in aid of Singing for Syrians. This is a nationwide initiative, offering a positive way to raise money for some of Syria’s most vulnerable people.
Singing for Syrians is part of the Hands Up Foundation which supports partner organisations working in and around Syria.  Hands Up focusses on funding long-term and sustainable work in Health and Education to respond to the vast and varying needs of those affected by Syria’s conflict.
